What is Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)?

Emotion-focused therapy, or EFT, is a therapeutic modality where members of a relationship are encouraged and supported in opening up to one another in a way that is focused towards understanding each other’s needs. EFT dives deeper into the emotional experience of each member, allowing them to vocalize how they are feeling, identifying their unmet needs, and how they can contribute to a secure relationship foundation.

Potential Outcomes of EFT

  • Open communication regarding emotions and needs within the relationship without immediate defensive reactions. Successful outcome is dependent upon level of commitment to emotional sharing.
